Hi everyone,

I just heard that AskJeeves has decided to take on Google Adwords with a competing advertising program on its search engine site. The system will work in a typical auction style where the highest bidders can have their ads appear on the AskJeeves search result pages.

The askJeeves search engine will still continue to display Google Adwords ads too! This makes me wonder whether the usability of this search engine will suffer if two layers of ads are displayed.

You can read more about this development here -

p.s. I just gave AskJeeves a whirl and I was shocked to find that on some searches you will get as many as 10 ads displayed before the "real" search results appear. This means that you have to scroll down about 1 and a half pages to find the results! This is ridiculous! (IMHO)

Hey glen,

Any word on whether AskJeeves will be rolled out for publishers?

hi jo,

It would be great if askJeeves could enter the market with a product like Google Adsense (and the soon to be released Yahoo and MSN competing products)....However I have not heard that such a move is on the table! I can't see why they wouldn't try to enter the market! It seems to be pretty lucrative and there seems to be room for multiple players.

Cheers, Glen
