What has me so mad? It's Bill Gates and his dam Internet Explorer.
OK some details, I run a small creative writers site, currently I'm trying to make the site break even by using adsense. My page design is based upon the Skidoo three coloumn layout. It is all set up and maintained by Dreamweaver mx.
I would like to place Googles 728 by 90 leaderboard at the top of some of my pages. When I view in Firefox everything is fine, the ad displays great.
When I check the results in IE6 they're weird. The leaderboard pertruds into the right coloumn and as a result pushes itself way down to the bottom of the page below an amazon text box. I've placed an example of the offending page online at ABC Writers Network I've used colours that clash just to demonstrate.
It seems to me that the typeface in Internet Explorer displays larger than the typeface in Firefox.
I really would appreciate it if someone would have a look at the above page and make a few suggestions. Somewhere along the line I heard something remotly about checking my DIV tags but it was double Dutch to me.
Thanks for any help
Kevin
ps if I don't come back you'll know the computer has went out the window.

Hi Kevin,
I did a simple test replacing your adsense code with a LONG string of normal text. It appears that the Ad is trying to squeeze into the middle row but it is too wide to fit
If I were you I would just use a table! zero fuss!
OR use a rectangle ad instead of the leaderboard! it will be narrower at least!
Cheers, glen

Microsoft is not the only one to blame here:
1. code valid code
2. code XHTML rather than HTML
3. test things like that before actually making the design
finally, make a better design ;) that one is IMO too simple.
and make your adsense blend in the content.
no offence, by the way ;)
oh, and ps, if you actually throw the computer out, let me know where ;) some new hardware would do for me..

The reason I use Dreamweaver is that I know little, very little, about code XHTML and HTML, I'm afraid I'm only learning. Next site will have a bit more design one of my main uses for this site is as a learning curve.
Re the ad not blending in that was deliberate on my behalf just to show the effect. That page is not available to the public.
Tried what Glen suggest about placing the ad in a table 1x1, no joy. I'm beginning to think it is a bug. I downloaded a new copy of the skidoo layout and defined it is a site in Dreamweaver etc etc and then placed the same leaderboard in it - same results. I assume the code was not out here. I think I'll write the author and let him know.
Throw the computer out the window - depends where you live .
