I previously had the google ads displayed as a column on the left side of the page as a skyscraper (which is 160 pixels wide and 600 pixels high).

This is the method I used -

Go to Skins & Templates then Skin Manager and then select the skin you wish to modify (perhaps create a child skin if you have not done so already) then select Edit Root Skin Board Header & Footer Wrapper -

The Header and Footer will look like this -

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xml:lang="en" lang="en" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<title><% TITLE %></title>
<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />
<% GENERATOR %>
<% CSS %>
<% javascript %>
</head>
<body>
<div id="ipbwrapper">
<% BOARD HEADER %>
<% MEMBER BAR %>
<% NAVIGATION %>
<!--IBF.NEWPMBOX-->
<% BOARD %>
<% BOARD FOOTER %>
<% STATS %>
<% COPYRIGHT %>
</div>
</body>
</html>

Add the following code (in red) -

<% TITLE %>

<% GENERATOR %>
<% CSS %>
<% javascript %>

<% BOARD HEADER %>
<% MEMBER BAR %>

[Adsense Skyscraper Code Here]

<% NAVIGATION %>
<!--IBF.NEWPMBOX-->
<% BOARD %>
<% BOARD FOOTER %>

<% STATS %>
<% COPYRIGHT %>

If you want the Skyscraper on the right simply rearrange the code as follows -

  <% NAVIGATION %>
  <!--IBF.NEWPMBOX-->
  <% BOARD %>
  <% BOARD FOOTER %>

[Adsense Skyscraper Code Here]

Let me know if you have any questions.

Cheers, Glen :)

best results will be to change from time to time to avoid your users developing "ad blindness". so far on this site the skyscraper is slightly better. but i am not getting a lot of traffic to make a fair assessment.

which version of IPB are you using?

i won't claim to be able to solve every templating problem since i am sort of muddling through this myself... but i thought it would be fairly fool proof because all it does is wrap the <% NAVIGATION %>, <!--IBF.NEWPMBOX-->, <% BOARD %>, <% BOARD FOOTER %> sections inside a table and it puts those four items in one column and creates another column for the ad.

maybe there is some issue with the CSS stylesheets that is causing the weird behaviour. sorry i can't be more helpful.

its a bit hard to comment without seeing the site.

cheers, glen :)

i emailed you the advice re: the TOS.

with the canada site i would ask your skinner (Sam) to make the simple table mod for you. i don't think he would charge you for that.....at least i hope not! its a nice skin by the way! :)

cheers, glen

something weird happened to the above code when i upgraded IPB. it converted text to raw html and processed it.

to wrap a table around the <% BOARD %> tag just do this

column on the left:

<table>
<tr>
<td width="150">
GOOGLE SKYSCRAPER CODE HERE
</td>
<td>
<% BOARD %>
 </td>
 </tr>
</table>

column on the right:

<table>
 <tr>
 <td>
 <% BOARD %>
  </td>
 <td width="150">
  GOOGLE SKYSCRAPER CODE HERE
  </td>
  </tr>
 </table>

just remember to change "150" to whatever width you like.

What if I want to put a skyscraper just on the index page of the forums? Then when people enter the different forum sections the skyscraper won't show?

it probably can be done by editing the HTML template under the "Board Index" section.

i gave it a shot by adding

<table>
<tr>
<td>

to the top of "PageTop"

and then I added

</td>
<td width="150">
  GOOGLE SKYSCRAPER CODE HERE
  </td>
  </tr>
</table>

to "end_all_cats"

Ladies and Gentlemen, I am so sad, my employer have kicked me, I lost my job. I have no funds, a lot of bills
to pay and I am thinking about starting making money on internet. I am looking for your suggestion aboutmaking cash with an affiliate store. I have found a place with
online business website for sale? I made some cash with Adbrite before but not much. My friend has suggested to get a FREE WEBSITE at WWW.websitesforsale.999site.com (here is link, direct link -
"TURNKEY WEBSITES FOR SALE")
- I hope you can help me to make a good decision! It looks like they offering good free money making sites. please share your opinion and experience.
Thank you so much!
