Misc Chat always a good place to go if you're not to sure.

OK here is the scene. I had a domain name hanging around doing nothing, and one I particularly want to hold on to as it has become part of my signature on a number of sites. So I thought I launch a blog using a free template from Dosh Dosh called Prosense . My idea was to launch a blog aimed at Irish emigrants living in England and the United States, but more so the States.

I know that the Irish abroad all hanker back to the old homeland (and I suppose it is the same for every other nation) so I thought that maybe there was a market there for nostalgia. As it was only a new blog in the making I knew that any revenue coming from it would have to be Adsense based. Dosh Dosh claims that the blog is: ' created with optimal monetization, web usability and search engines in mind.'. But hands up I didn't do the homework and that has shown with very few visitors.

A few days back I contacted a number of Irish emigrant organizations and explained that I had launched a blog aimed at Irish Americans, asked them what the emigrant wanted to know about, suggested that perhaps they'd like to post my blogs address on their noticeboard, invited them to guest blog on the site, and shared a few ideas I had with them.

My initial post was sent to eleven different groups - not one has replied to date. Worse still because I have so little traffic to the blog it is easy enough to tell they haven't even visited the site. Really depressing :(

I still think my idea is a good one and I'd like to stick with it a little longer, but I would like a few suggestions, and criticisms of the site, especially if you are Irish and living in America, so I'm asking members to pop over to my blog My Irish Blog (link in signature) and let me know what you think. A site review if you will.

If you were living abroad, in a different culture what do you think you'd miss? Would you be interested in hard news from back home, or gossip? Do you think you'd become more Irish than the Irish as we say over here of many Irish Americans. Just a few thoughts for you to play with.

Any and all suggestions welcomed
