I am going to start a new website and I just wanted to know which website topics would generate traffic. Or do you know where I could get databases for websites.
Thanks

that is not a straight forward question to answer.

i could tell you to build a clone of the Yahoo or MSN sites or the Google search engine since they clearly get heaps of traffic but they are not something one person could comfortably run from their lounge room! :)

you could make a website about ringtones or music which might be a topic that gets lots of traffic but you will face a lot of competition too.

so you need to find a topic that gets OK traffic and not too much competition. there are programs like wordtracker that people use for this sort of analysis. http://www.wordtracker.com

good luck! :)

Create a niche site and let it grow over time.

i agree that it takes time for a niche site to grow. don't expect results overnight! ...unless you are a marketing whiz of course which is what i aspire to be one day! :)

If you haven't got the time you can make your site grow fast with ppc. For example I bought a new domain name 0n 4th July 2007, set up the site in the simplest way possible and it has already received 4629 unique visitors with 3209 coming yesterday (9th July) and 527 today at 11.33 GMT.

I never pay more than 1c per click and when I have sorted out the ad placement and CTR it should make me some money. ;)

Hi Glen

I'm happy to share this with you (and by the way I'm not an affiliate) I use GoClick at http://www.goclick.com/ after abandoning my Google adwords account because of the cost. Having said that the Google Keyword search tool is a brilliant way of creating relevant keyword lists.

They appear on GoClick search engine results and judging by my "came from" stats a whole load of other search engines.

The selection of niche for any website to get higher traffic is as a gloden coin that every adsense publishers like to get before starting any website. But its better to think it a different way. Since internet is global, so getting better niche is not a problem, rather you should start a bit strategically. First go to DMOZ or any website directory. Study the large variety of categories, that are there. Select the one that you have personal interest in. Now step 2. Go to adsense preview tool of google to check whether advertisers are throwing ads on that niche or not. I think its worthless for adsense publisher to start a niche with huge traffic but no advertiser.
Now step 3 - go to google adword tool to check out the details of the bidding amount of the advertisor, to have a idea about whether you are starting with a low paying keyword or high paring keyword.

last step-4 - Go for niche bot classic. type the keyword related to your topic, checkout the number of estimated search made by visitors over that specific keyword. This will help you to start with better keyword selection for a particular niche that you have selected. :D

But remember that none of the site will bring you visitor over night.
