Hi.
I've heard of the deal and purchased a couple domains (well, one actually, but a couple sounds a bit better).
I've heard not so good reviews about yahoo, but for this price... even infos cost more.
And you can have a com for the first year for $1.99.

Anyway, here goes:

I think it's still actually good to see if your domain takes off and if it doesn't, you can simply abandon it after the first year.

Edit: be careful with the TOS, though. It seems your need to terminate 30 days before the expiration if you don't want it to be continued. I'd recommend taking a look at the TOS, because something like this might happen:

hi despot. i had some domains with yahoo (which i bought for 1.99 some years ago). they were .info and .org's.

while i was there it was OK, but i had a hard time getting them released to move to another registrar. it took quite a few emails back and forth and a lot of waiting.

yahoo is a reseller of melbourne IT and so they don't have direct control of the domains.

also, you will find that the renewal feel will be quite expensive so you will definitely want to move after the first cheap year.

cheers, glen

Yeah, I've heard of that.
As for infos, there are some at registerfly.com for like 70 pennies (with the code SUPERINFO... I can't remember when, but it's quite often).
Registerfly is a bit bad too, though.

Well, I don't really like infos anyway. ;)

They always get people with the price. Tisk, Tisk. You don't want to go with a host based on price. Quality over quantity. While Yahoo! offers cheap domains, it is also one of the worst registrars.
