Thought about placing this in the adsense script folder but it is not really about adsense as such so I guess this is the most appropiate forum

I’m redesigning a site I have about dogs. The structure of the site is the normal index.html file and four sub-directories or folders. Let’s call these sub-directories/folders: Breeds; Articles; News and Resources. The site is been rebuilt in Dreamweaver using templates

Now lets say in the Breeds Folder I have a single html file for each breed of dog I cover eg.

boxer.html
poodle.html
german-shepherd.html
west-hightland-white-terrier.html

Currently I have about fifty such pages; nothing else appears in this folder.

It’s pretty much the same in the other folders except of course they deal with different topics.

Up until now I have been manually dealing with these menus but it is becoming a real pain and very difficult to do and I’m trying to find a way to automate this process and in some way randomize it, so for example in my Breeds Directory when I add another page; - the-chihuahua.html - the sub menu down the left column where I give my reader a selection of pages to view will be automatically added and updated.

Now I understand that this can be achieved using PHP and something called an include file, I understand also that this menu can be randomized so that I get a random display of say five breeds without having the manually change over 50 files.

I’ve even read a bit about it on the net but it remains gobbly-gook to me! Is there anyone out there who can tell me, or better still show me how this works? I’m guessing there is a pretty common script out there that will achieve the above but I can’t seem to find it. Is there anyone who can help me out? I’m the sort of a bloke that needs to see the thing in reality and do it a few times before I understand what is happening.
