OK guys some breaking news:
My site www.abcwritersnetwork.co.uk has now changed from been a standard website to been a Forum (I'm using the free phpbb system).
I hope that by switching to a Forum based outlay I can encourage more visitors to come along. I also hope it will give me the oppertunity to build up a much needed mailing list.
All the advice I've received to date seems to say that creating a sucessful forum takes time and effort but in honesty this is more of a hobby site and if it gives a little in return well and good. Any advice on building up a forum will of course be welcome.
Anyway I'd appreciate it if some of you would pop over to the Forum www.abcwritersnetwork.co.uk/forum/ and maybe post a little message in my Welcome section. Just so as other visitors will not get put off by seeing no posts other than my own! I'd also appreciate your feedback.
Needless to say if you are sending out a newsletter or if you have a site that might be of interest to creative writers I would appreciate a mention.
Many thanks
Kevin

You probably end up getting more traffic and revenue. With websites, you don't really have anything to do and once people get what they want, they usually just leave.

good point jerlene.
sometimes it takes a bit of digging to find information in a forum .....and so the user might spend a fair bit of time on your site and will eventually see an advert they like and click on it.
cheers, glen
