I'd appreciate some help with placing a background image.
I'm building a website, its 800px wide and I want to have a background image to fill the rest of the screen. The image is basically a two tone colour of blue which I downloaded from a site offering free backgrounds.
While I am not completely familiar with css I have a css file which controls my navigation, font size etc, but I can't figure out what to do with the image.
I've attached two files to show you what my code looks like. In attachment background_2.html the whole background tiles out with individual tiles.
In attachment background_1 all I get is a single tile in the upper left corner. Change no-repeat to repeat and the whole background tiles out like backgroun_1. Of course what I want to do is display the image as one complete unit.
If I can't figure this then I suppose I'll have to resort back to a background colour
Any suggestions welcomed

hi kevin, the attachments were not really working because you had relative links to the background images and so we could not see them. maybe a screen shot would have been better.
I think you will find an answer to your question about css positioning of backgrounds here:

If not, then please post a screenshot so i can getter a better idea about what you would like to change.

Hi Kevin, I am not sure what you mean by this statement. But just by looking at the screen shot it seems clear to me that the image you are using is not suitable for tiling at all. in both the vertical and horizontal direction is causes obvious seams. you would be better off using an image like the ones on this site:
http://www.nutrocker.../freetiles.html
the seems will merge and it will look a lot better. give it a go and see if that works.
i tested the following image and it looked good to me http://www.nutrocker...iles/waterz.gif

Many thanks for the resource. I decided to run with: http://www.nutrocker...s/texgif24.html. I think it will tie in nicely with the site I'm working on at the moment.
