Hi guys,

I am still listening to the odd adsense podcast and I am liking the ones run by Shoemoney at webmasterradio.fm. The radio show is called "Net Income".

Here are a few tips I have got from this radio show so far:
  • Shoemoney does very well from website subscriptions. I am not sure what type of site he is referring to but I am guessing it might be a ringtones website. He seems to think they are pretty good.
  • Paying for a listing in the Yahoo Directory is worth the money. And its possible to get a discount from some guy on the Digital Point Forums
  • Mix up ad networks. He tends to do a split as follows: 40% adsense, 40% YPN and 20% for other networks/affiliates (and use php scripts to rotate between networks). This is supposed to help overcome ad blindness.
  • Important to have your sites listed in the dmoz.org directory.
  • Adsense is still one of the best programs but a lot of sites have seen a drop in earnings this year
  • YPN (the Yahoo equivalent to adsense) has poor ad targeting but if you apply some sneaky tricks you can skew the ads and get a higher payout per click. The click through rate tends to be lower than Adsense.
  • Fastclick and other CPM programs are generally not very good.
  • Amazon affiliates program doesn't pay well. Better to use Commission Junction.
Cheers, Glen :)

Yeah, I actually do too (well, got it from your post a while back and I do check for new podcasts when I am bored.. which is often).
Hell, I do sometimes even read his blog at shoemoney.com

There are a few quite interesting eps, and a few quite inspiring goes (like the 'Shoemoney keeps it real' one).

These are nice tips, btw. :)

Hi Glen

A good post.

I agree in particular abut Amazon. One of the issues I have with Amazon is that you have to open up an account for each country you wish to operate in.

Also if you want to display Amazon for your own region and for America you have to create two seperate redirects and that can look messy

I do wish Amazon would get their act together here - or maybe it is just their way of cutting down on commissions. I have it on a few of my sites but I've never and I mean never received a payment.

i tried to create an account with azoogle but they required proof of ID etc and I just could not be bothered mailing them photocopies of my ID. seemed like red tape for no reason at all. i think its pretty obvious that i am telling them the truth about who i am otherwise i would never be able to cash a check! no other affiliate program required this. i am starting to lose track of all the accounts anyway! :)
