Hi,
I'm pretty new at this and have a problem. Maybe somebody can help.
The purpose of my site, Backyard Voyager, is to provide tutorials, product reviews and other guides for amateur astronomers and astrophotographers. It also includes historical information on telescopes, optical engineering, etc. The site is still fairly new, and I'm adding content everyday.
I haven't signed up for Adsense yet because I have Javascript navigation bar called from an external js file. As I understand it, search engine robots won't be able to follow links to the pages inside. Doing it in CSS is out of the question. I don't know the first thing about CSS and don't have time to learn.
I've heard that I can get around it with some sort of site map page, but I don't know how to go about it. Actually I'm pretty new at all of this. I have a basic knowledge of html and use that to force pages together in Dreamweaver. Can anyone here point me in the right direction? Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks.

hi steve, there are 2 types of sitemaps you might be talking about.
the "normal" type of sitemap is just a page on your site with links to all your other pages. it is recommended that all sites have a sitemap because it is good for both visitors and search engine spiders.
the other "not so normal" sitemap is the google sitemap made specifically for search engines. you can read about this here:
https://www.google.c...n/protocol.html
if you are happpy with your javascript menu i would just leave it alone and add BOTH of the sitemaps referred to above.
the google sitemap can be a little tricky for big sites but it looks like your site is quite small so it shouldn't be too big a deal.
hopefully that will get you headed in the right direction.
welcome to the AF site!
cheers, glen

Thanks. I did as you suggested. I made the xml with www.xml-sitemaps.com. Do I have to update that from time to time? If so, how frequently?

you only need to update it if you add more pages to your site
