I spent all of last week at a local writers conference and in the process collected many email address. I've been in contact with those who attended and offered to add them to my ezine. There is just one problem though - I haven't got an ezine :(

At the moment about 35 have replied saying they'd like to subscribe and a lot of them are in creative writng groups so I would have an expectation of pushing that upto 60 or so pretty quickly. Now I realize that is not a big number but it is better than none.

With that small of a list though it dosen't make commercial sense to pass the project on and I'm stuck. Big Time!!

For years I've been a fan of Tourbus and thought that a plain text ezine might be the way to go and I've even fashioned a template around their design. But to be honest I'm not pleased; mainly because of lack of control over the design but also because I'm aware that if I use others articles I will not be able to do justice to the authors resource box. I'd hate to think my resource box was been abused :)

That would seem to leave a html newsletter but  I can't figure out how to send it from my mail program (Thunderbird) I've downloaded a few html newsletter templates I've seen around the block but can't figure out how to send them.

Times limited I'll run with the plain text ezine if necessary but I'd be grateful if anyone could help me out.

hi kevin,

you could use a program such as this one:

http://www.phplist.com/

i played around with it a while ago and it seemed ok. but i just had nothing to write which was my main problem. and it therefore became a big chore.

with a program like phplist you can let people choose whether they want html or plain text.

cheers, glen :)

Well I'm almost ready with my first edition of (but I haven't completely settled on a name yet :) ) of my creative writing e-letter.

The first issue, bar the name, is finished and due to go out on the 15 August, the second goes on Thursday 31 August and every two weeks thereafter. From what I've read Thursday seems the best day to send out a e-letter, closely followed by Tuesday.

I must admit I'm really excited about this project, I mailed all the people that attended the John Hewitt summer school and a large number of them have signed up.

Anybody on the forum interested in creative writing? Or interested in receiving the e-letter if so drop me an email at

subscribe@abcwritersnetwork.co.uk

and I'll add you to the list.

Oh yes I almost forgot; I'm giving away a FREE E-BOOK to all those who sign up. It's entitled: The Science of Getting Rich, written by Wallace D. Wattles, and published in 1910. Forgotten for decades, it was recently rediscovered. As Wattles states in his book, if you practice and apply this science, you will get rich!

A primary principal in The Science of Getting Rich is to always give more in "use value" than you receive in "cash value" for your products or services. To that end I'll be delighted to let you have a FREE COPY of the book.

decided to go manually - plain text - built around the Tourbus design. First venture down this road and looking forward to it. Just discovered your subscribe - Thunderbird had junked it!

one thing you might consider doing (someone else i know does this) is to write the 12 newsletters all at one time and then use some special software to send out a new newsletter automatically once a month. this might save you some time overall. i look forward to getting this ebook :) i presume it was obained via the gutenberg project?
