Hi everyone,

The new version of IPB 2.1 is great but it can be hard to get the hang of the new software with little documentation.

RSS feed imports
I already mentioned in a previous thread my difficulties in setting up the RSS feed imports.

Rich Text Editor
I just overcame a second problem which was how to get the WYSIWYG editor or Rich Text editor working. It appears that each user has to go to the "My Controls" tab and click on "Board Settings", then scroll to the bottom and find: "Type of text editor to use when posting Rich Text Editor requires either IE6, Mozilla or Firefox" and use the drop down to select "Rich Text Editor".

Apparently the IPB Rich Text Editor won't work with certain browsers (e.g. Opera) and so this is why it is not turned on my default. There is a way of running a MySQL query to turn this on for everyone but I will leave this alone for now.

Concurrent post capture
Another issue I had was finding the setting for the "concurrent post capture". It can be found here
Tools & Settings -> View All General Settings -> Topics, Posts and Polls -> Merge member's concurrent posts . It turns out this option is fairly limited because it applies to either everyone (including admins) or no one. I would have thought admins and moderators should have been able to bypass this feature.

List of new features
In case anyone was interested here are some of the new features of the IPB 2.1 software:

Hello,

Google Adsense ads are written in javascript, and cannot be parsed in IP.Board forum posts.

As a beginner I have no idea how to design an "iframe" to include google ads in the forum threads/posts.

Would you know how to write a iframe (and where exactly to insert the code) so that google ads appear on the forum threads and posts?

Thx
